Our Horticulture Landscape Technician Apprenticeship is a long-term employment opportunity that pairs classroom instruction with field work as you learn the trade and progress through the one to two-year apprenticeship program culminating with certification.
Position Summary:

❖ Landscape Technicians are responsible for working with and supporting the Operations Manager with landscape installation, maintenance, and restoration.
❖ This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

❖ Must be able to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

❖ Be able to read plans and follow directions.

❖ Demonstrate professional conduct and appearance at all times
❖ Support company vision, policies, procedures, safety, and training programs; perform accordingly, demonstrate through action to other team members.
❖ Professionally communicate with management, co-workers, and clients.

❖ Communicate proactively and work in concert with management to resolve client concerns and requests.
❖ Develop core competencies in methods, processes, and standard operating procedures.
❖ Be familiar and accountable with each job’s specifications and ensure compliance with quality and efficiency standards.

❖ Move large quantities of mulch, topsoil, pavers, and stone.

❖ Move shrubs, trees, and plants.
❖ Be able to perform small landscape jobs independently and as part of a team.
❖ Assist with brick and retainer wall block work.

❖ Load/Unload supplies and equipment.

❖ Inspect, clean, and maintain tools, equipment, and supplies.
❖ Other tasks and responsibilities, as necessary, to support the overall needs and success of the business.

Skills and Abilities

❖ Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize workflow and perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
❖ Exceptional problem-solving skills.

❖ Ability to work independently with a high level of accountability.

❖ Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of leadership, team members, and clients, both verbally and in written form.
❖ Must maintain confidentiality and trust when dealing with difficult, sensitive, and confidential issues.
❖ Travel required between client properties, material and supply vendors, as well as other operational sites. Occasional travel for training may also be required from time to time.
❖ Valid driver's license.
❖ Must be willing and able to pass a drug and alcohol test

Education

Associate degree and/or certification in Horticultural Sciences or Landscape Management, preferred.
Pesticide Applicators License, preferred.

Environmental Considerations

❖ Works around hazardous equipment with moving mechanical parts.

❖ Works outside in all weather conditions including cold, heat, sun, clouds, rain, and wind.
❖ Works around excessive noise from machines requiring hearing protection.
❖ Works on a diverse range of topography and uneven terrain.

❖ May be exposed to nature including irritating plants and biting and stinging insects.

❖ May be exposed to fumes, odors, dust, chemicals, and hazardous materials.

Physical Requirements

❖ Must understand and demonstrate proper safety procedures abiding by all OSHA regulations with the ability to respond to and summons authorities in emergency situations.
❖ Must have the ability and endurance to perform tasks for at least 10-hour periods.

❖ Ability to sustain physically demanding outdoor work in all type of weather conditions.
❖ Sustained periods of standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, and repetitive arm and hand motion.
❖ Must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.

❖ Capable of lifting or moving up to 75 pounds, routinely but in no case lift more than 100 pounds without assistance.
