Background:

Nisha received her B.S. in Fisheries from Agriculture and Forestry University in Nepal in 2019. She was involved in research on the culture and breeding procedures of some of the warm water fish species prevalent in Nepal. She began her Erasmus Mundus joint master's degree in aquaculture, environment, and society in 2020. Her dissertation focused on studying harmful algae species using a metabarcoding approach. She is now a PhD student working under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Loch on a project aimed at delivering easily adaptable solutions to the loss of rainbow trout due to Flavobacterium psychrophilum on the majority of farms in the North Central Region of the United States. Her research interests include fish health and production. Nisha enjoys practicing knitting, dancing, playing ukulele, and sketching in her spare time.
