Research Interest:

My research aims to optimize planting practices in winter wheat by exploring the role of precision planting, row spacing, and seeding rate. These factors can help develop an ideal wheat canopy, maximizing light interception and radiation use efficiency (RUE), leading to sustainable yield and profit improvements for growers in Michigan and the Great Lakes Region. Winter wheat is an integral component of Michigan’s economy and baking industry, with 600,000 acres sown in the 2023 season, representing a significant portion of the state's agriculture. Additionally, I am leading a secondary project to better understand short-stature corn in Michigan environments and optimize agronomic decisions such as row spacing and seeding rates to maximize profitability potential for Michigan growers.
