Bio
My research interests are in Sustainability Science. Currently, I am keenly interested in developing quantitative metrics of ecosystem services, human well-being, and constructing systems models to understand the causal mechanisms of how policy interventions affect ecosystem services and then human well-being. I frame that the fundamental challenge for achieving sustainability and improve human well-being lies in improving the understanding and management of human-nature interactions. To do so, I take a systems approach to integrate multiple disciplines and techniques to conduct social and economic analyses of natural resource management. I also apply social psychological and economic theories to understand the underlying mechanisms of environmental behaviors and policies. I advocate for actionable science to shape policy making both for environmental protection and human well-being. My work has been published in journals such as Science, PNAS, Ecological Economics, PLOS ONE, and Journal of Environmental Management, has been featured by Science magazine as "Editors' Choice", has been highlighted by NSF's website Science 360 as "Breaking Story", has been selected by Elsevier as the Top 25 Hottest Articles in Ecological Economics, and has been widely covered by international news media.
