Xinyu’s research focuses on how stressors, caused by human activities and climate change, impact freshwater organisms and ecosystems. Her previous projects looked at the interactive effects of elevated salinity and climate change on freshwater zooplankton by conducting lab and field experiments. She is now interested in using big, open-source data to quantitatively compare abiotic and ecological conditions across waterbodies, synthesize regional patterns, and link these patterns to freshwater systems’ responses to environmental changes. She is also keen on developing and implementing team science strategies and using a collaborative approach in her projects.
