Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment of PFAS

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) have been widely used in aqueous film forming foams (AFFFs), industrial processes and consumer products, resulting in multiple sites with PFAS impacted media across the US. As a result, human health and ecological risk assessments are critical to identify unacceptable risks and inform remedial needs.  For this webinar, Mr. Travis Kline provided an overview of key aspects of health toxicology and risk assessment for PFAS, including key exposure pathways, and understanding the wide range of toxicity criteria for human health and variability of MCLs. To provide the ecological risk perspective, Ms. Jennifer Arblaster gave an overview of recent guidance and tools for evaluating ecological risks of PFAS at contaminated sites.
