Irrigators have the advantage of being able to apply water to aid germination, emergence, and incorporate herbicides and nutrients. If rainfall is short, irrigation can prevent early season drought. -

Warm and dry conditions this past week accelerated crop planting progress as well as crop emergence and development. Cooler and wetter conditions in the forecast would help to replenish some of the soil water lost to recent high evapotranspiration rates. -

Tree fruit is beginning fruit sizing, with most apples between 8-12 mm and stone fruit 15-20 mm. Warm weather has been very good for thinning. Storms Tuesday may result in to cooler, dry conditions later this week. -

Rain in the area was helpful with our dry conditions. Cherries are coming out of the shuck, and apple growers are working on thinning. -
