Mindful Mondays

  • Mantra

A mantra is a short word or phrase that you repeat to yourself while meditating. The word or phrase can be anything that helps you feel calm and centered and could be something like “I am safe, I feel calm,” “Love,” or “I breathe in, I am calm, I breathe out I’m smile.” Find a comfortable place to sit, close your eyes, breathe and repeat a word or phrase that helps you feel calm.

  • Pinwheel Breathing

You can use a pinwheel to practice taking deep breaths. Take a deep breathe in and as you breathe out, blow onto your pinwheel and watch it spin. You can adjust your breathing to make the pinwheel spin fast or slow. If you don’t have a pinwheel you can use a feather, cotton ball or anything light enough to move when you blow on it.

  • Noticing Meditation

Noticing meditation is a great way to manage stress and feel calm when overwhelmed. Close your eyes and take slow deep breaths. Notice things that your hear. Notice things that you smell. Notice things that you feel. Taking a moment to notice what is happening right now, in the present moment, can help you feel calm and regain your composure.
