2nd Annual Student & Alumni Sketch Crawl

September 19, 2024 1:30PM - 4:00PM

Human Ecology Building, 552 W Circle Dr, East Lansing, MI

Dear Fellow Spartan Sketchers,

Please join us for an autumn afternoon sketching foray on campus to kick off the Landscape Architecture Fall Speaker Series at Michigan State University, September 19, 2024 from 1:30 to 4:00pm. It is sure to be a lot of fun and promises to be a great way to bring alumni and students together to share the relevance of hand drawing.

For those interested in lunch, we'll meet at room 306 in the Human Ecology Building at 12:00pm. Lunch will be provided. At 1:30pm, after some introductory comments and a quick overview, we'll head outside to begin sketching. Along with the ASLA Club we'll prepare special commemorative accordion sketchbooks for participants to have a common format, which will allow us to display the books at the evening event for all the speaker attendees to appreciate. We'd like to ask for a donation of $10-20 for our alumni and friends per sketchbook to benefit the student ASLA Club. Sketchbooks will be returned to sketchers at the end of the evening. Bring along your favorite drawing implements, pens, pencils, watercolors, colored pencils, crayolas, etc and also your sketchbook as backup [in case we run out of the custom hand-built ones!]  Also, wear comfortable clothing and shoes for the weather, which will hopefully be the glorious Michigan fall type!

After we finish the stroll through the old part of campus, we'll return to the HE Building and participants can join in a happy hour for all those interested, to continue sketching at a local venue, which will be very casual and a great way to mingle with other students and alumni. Please don’t forget that the LA Alumni and Advisory Board and LA program will host the 2024 Fall Distinguished Speaker Series from 6pm at the MSU Union Ballroom at the same date!

Looking forward to seeing everyone! We're super excited!

Cheers,

Bob Chipman, ASLA, BLA Class of 1981
