The Office of Culture, Access and Belong invites the CANR Community to attend this event with Mark Decena.
Farming While Black examines the history of Black Farmers in the U.S. and the movement to reclaim land, culture and food sovereignty. The film follows Leah Penniman, co-founder of Soul Fire Farm, alongside other Black farmers dedicated to sustainable agriculture and food justice. Inspired by African agrarian traditions and leaders like Karen Washington and Blain Snipstal, they work to restore Black land ownership and challenge systemic barriers in farming. The event will be on Wednesday, February 26th from 3 – 5 pm in the Multicultural Building: Multipurpose Room A (Room 1015). Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with the Director, Writer and Producer of the film, Mark Decena.
