The Hidden Ecology of Arctic Treeline Advance
Climate warming is transforming Arctic landscapes, yet temperature alone cannot explain patterns of treeline advance. Using research spanning 20 treeline landscapes across Alaska’s Brooks Range, I will explore how mycorrhizal fungi, plant nutrient acquisition, snowpack, and soil temperature interact to regulate tree growth and forest expansion.
