Contact: Linsey Kerr
Join MSU Extension Educator Lindsey Kerr at Detroit's Palmer Park (at the DEN) for a hands-on workshop about the invasive spotted lanternfly and learn how you can help protect Michigan’s trees and landscapes. Together, we'll learn how to identify spotted lanternfly (SLF), understand its life cycle, and discover why this invasive insect is a growing concern.
Participants will see a demonstration of a simple and effective "lampshade trap" that can be installed on trees to help monitor and manage SLF populations. You'll also learn how to recognize and remove egg masses and take practical steps to help slow the spread of this invasive pest in your community.
No prior knowledge or experience necessary. Come ready to learn!
