Course Description:

This course will build upon concepts introduced in general plant pathology and

microbiology classes by employing advanced microbiological and molecular genetic

techniques to study, manipulate, and identify plant pathogens. Lecture material will

provide the theoretical background necessary and specific lectures will be followed

by activities performed each week. Students will gather data from these exercises

and compile their methods and results into a research report. This hands-on

approach will enhance their ability to apply scientific practices and critically evaluate

the role of microbial communities in plant health.
