Biosecurity practices and human health hygiene are important parts of the county fair.

When preparing for county fairs, jackpot shows and livestock exhibitions this year there are a few things that program and event organizers should keep in mind to make their event successful. MSU Extension, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and Michigan Association of Fairs and Exhibitions (MAFE) have partnered to share important information for the 2025 season during an informational webinar. This includes updates on highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), animal health information, biosecurity practices to implement at your event, protecting human and animal interactions and where to find resources for your 2025 fair or exhibition.

This information will be shared during a webinar hosted on Tuesday May 13th, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. This webinar is free to attend and will provide fair leadership a chance to engage with industry experts during the Q&A portion of the webinar.

Protecting fair attendees, exhibitors and their families and the animals, at these events are all high priorities for those that host county fairs and livestock exhibitions. It involves many people working together in coordination so that the youth exhibiting and the public attending events have an enjoyable and safe experience. Attending this webinar will help those in fair and exhibition leadership positions guide their organizations when preparing and responding issues related to animal health.
