SARE Youth Educator Grants

NCR-SARE’s Youth Educator Grants offer up to $6,000 for “educators to develop and implement innovative programming on sustainable agriculture for youth”.

Deadline: December 3, 2026

About this Program
Youth Educator grants are for youth educators for projects that teach young people about regenerative agriculture practices and encourage them to explore regenerative agriculture careers. Educators also share out innovative curriculum, approaches, or methods for engaging youth, equipping other educators to integrate regenerative ag education into their work.

The maximum amount for grants is $6,000, and a total of approximately $90,000 is available for this program.

To Apply
NCR-SARE is accepting online submissions for the Youth Educator Grant Program. More information about the online submission system can be found in the call for proposals.

More about the Youth Educator Grant Program
Past projects have innovated and created best practices for starting school gardens, teen internship programs on farms, on-farm field trip series, and more. We encourage you to apply if you have a twist that builds on these types of tried-and-true education methods, or an entirely new way to engage youth with regenerative agriculture.

Instead of supporting programming, we fund projects that are both (A) developing innovative new ways to engage youth in learning about agriculture that considers economic, environmental and community viability, and (B) sharing what they learn with their fellow educators.

Outreach to other Youth Educators is an important part of this grant. When grantees share what they learned through their projects, they help create a ripple effect that will encourage their peers. This outreach can be simple but powerful, and help other educators feel more equipped to teach about sustainable agriculture.

You can find more information about sustainable agriculture at http://www.sare.org/ and in the Youth Education Topic Room at: https://northcentral.sare.org/resources/resources-for-youth-education/.

Funding Decisions
NCR-SARE administers each grant program with specific goals, audiences, and timelines. Funding considerations are based on how well the applicant presents the problem being addressed, its relevance to sustainable agriculture in the 12-state North Central region, farmer-rancher engagement in the project, and how well it aligns with NCR-SARE's goals.

A regional Administrative Council (AC) makes funding decisions, with review from a grant review committee. The Administrative Council is a collection of producers, university representatives, nonprofit group interests, Extension and NRCS people, other government employees, and agribusiness representatives. This group sets NCR-SARE’s priorities and recommends projects for funding.

Awards made under this Call for Proposals are contingent upon NCR-SARE receiving federal funds from the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA).
