Advocacy Storytelling Workshop Graphic (Instagram Post).pngThe Michigan Good Food Charter Council & MI Local Food Council Network is hosting Storytelling & Action workshops to support coalition-building around timely policy actions. We’re kicking things off with a storytelling workshop supporting MIFMA’s efforts to advance updates to Michigan’s 2010 Cottage Food Law this October & November.

Stories are one of the most powerful, accessible tools for advocacy. In this interactive workshop, participants will craft our stories for policy advocacy. This can be useful for organizing meetings, building coalitions, and legislative visits. We will model this process through the timely policy action issue of updating the Cottage Food Law, but this workshop is open to anyone interested in learning how to use storytelling in advocacy.

If you are interested in working with us in advance of this session, we would love to support a couple folks to prep their stories in advance to use as models in the workshop- email Jordan Lindsay (lindsa57@msu.edu) and Lindsey Scalera (scaleral@msu.edu) to let us know.  If you are interested in sharing your written story for advocacy efforts, or being supported to meet with a legislator to share your story directly, please connect with MI Farmers Market Association. You can learn more about this issue and how to get involved here: https://mifma.org/cottage-food-advocacy/
