About Bald Peak Colony Club

Nestled on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, Bald Peak Colony Club is a historic, private club founded in 1921 by industrialist Thomas Plant. His vision was to create a summer retreat where sporting families could enjoy the natural beauty of New Hampshire while participating in outdoor activities such as golf, fishing, horseback riding, and boating. That tradition is proudly carried on today.

The club features an 18-hole Donald Ross-designed golf course, considered one of the finest in the region. The course lies within a 1,000-acre estate, with approximately 100 acres dedicated to the golf course itself. In addition to golf, Bald Peak offers tennis, pickleball, waterfront recreation, fine dining, overnight lodging, and a full calendar of social events, providing a complete summer experience for our members and their guests.

Internship Overview

We are currently seeking motivated, hardworking turfgrass students to join our Grounds Maintenance Team for the summer of 2027. This internship is designed to provide students with comprehensive, hands-on experience in all aspects of golf course management. Interns will work closely with our Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Equipment Managers, and the broader maintenance team.

You’ll gain exposure to both daily maintenance operations and long-term agronomic planning, and you’ll leave the season with a solid understanding of what it takes to maintain and manage a high-end, private golf facility.

What You Will Learn

Interns will receive training and experience in:

Daily course setup including tee, green, and cup placement
Mowing techniques for greens, tees, fairways, and roughs
Moisture management, including hand watering and use of moisture meters
Irrigation system operation and troubleshooting
Fertilizer and pesticide calibration and application
Aeration and cultural practices
Turfgrass disease and pest identification
Crew leadership and team communication
Interdepartmental coordination (working with Golf Operations, Housekeeping, etc.)
Equipment maintenance and diagnostics through time spent in the shop with our Equipment Managers
Recordkeeping and reporting related to pesticide applications and course conditions

Internship Requirements

Currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related program
Previous golf course experience preferred, but not required
Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a team-first attitude
Interest in pursuing a career in the golf course management industry

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly wage based on experience, starting at $20/hr with some overtime available
