Internship Description:

The Farm Tech Internship focuses on field-based scientific research to study invasive plant species and their effects on native ecosystems and agricultural productivity. Interns work in outdoor environments to identify species, collect samples, document growth patterns, and measure ecological impact. They may also explore the use of GIS mapping tools, drone technology, or other digital systems to assist in monitoring invasive spread and analyzing field data.

What You’ll Do:

· Survey and map areas affected by invasive species

· Collect, label, and catalog plant samples for analysis

· Support ongoing field experiments and restoration projects

· Assist with land management practices and field maintenance tasks

· Work with supervisors to develop effective prevention and control strategies

Responsibilities:

· Identifying all weeds on the farm down to genus and species (Research project)

· Tractor driving

· Use and connection of three-point implements

· Data collection in field

· Farm Mapping

· Collection of statistical data in the field

· Gain understanding of root production and procedures to increase root mass

· Assist in greenhouse as needed

· Participates in leadership classes, guides small teams

· Farm tractor maintenance (Beginners)

 

Qualifications:

- Currently pursuing a degree in Horticulture, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or a related field.

- Strong interest in plants, propagation, and sustainable practices.

- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

- Good organizational and communication skills.

- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

-Valid Drivers License
