Position Overview

In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to the care and maintenance of Michigan State University’s beautiful campus grounds. You’ll assist with a wide range of routine, hands‑on tasks that support our commitment to preserving the natural landscape that students, faculty, staff, and community members enjoy year‑round.

This position is perfect for students interested in exploring a future in landscaping or for anyone who enjoys active outdoor work. Our regular seasonal schedule runs from April through November, with flexible Monday–Friday hours between 5:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. During the summer, students may work up to 40 hours per week, while during the academic year they are expected to work between 12–29 hours per week. In the fall, student employees also assist with post‑game cleanup the morning after home football games.

From December through March, campus enters snow season. Students are not required to work during this period; however, those interested may join a snow‑event call‑in list to assist with snow removal as needed. Snow shifts are not guaranteed and can occur any day of the week, typically between 5:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
