Title: Undergraduate Research Assistant
Type: Part-time during semester (20-35) hours per week to be filled during normal business hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. There may be occasional weekend hours.
Duration: May - Dec. 2025
Salary: $15/hour
Job qualifications: Current MSU student. Must have strong organizational skills, basic computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.), and the ability to effectively communicate and multitask. Must be meticulous, punctual, and reliable. A strong interest in learning new things related to dry bean breeding and genetics. Must be able to work outside on uneven terrain, lift 40lbs daily, work in hot and cold environments, and sustain physical activity.
Job description: The successful candidate will be performing plant research as part of a team at MSU improving dry bean production. Students with interest in both lab and field skill development would be preferred.
The activities performed will include but are not limited to: field work, greenhouse work, plant root evaluation, plant growth and maintenance, and plant trait analysis. Student will receive field/greenhouse/laboratory training and EHS safety training. Keeping notebooks and files updated and organized is very important to this position. Position ends on Dec. 31, 2025, with potential for extension depending on funding availability and program needs. For more information, please see Haus website and Cichy website.
