CANR Spartans rally together on Giving Tuesday
The CANR community had another successful Giving Tuesday campaign, raising funds for various projects and programs representing the college, AgBioResearch and MSU Extension.
The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) community joined together on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, for another successful Giving Tuesday campaign. In total, more than $17,000 was raised for various projects and programs representing the college, AgBioResearch and MSU Extension. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped spread the word about Giving Tuesday
On Giving Tuesday, the college featured a CrowdPower project in support of the CANR Alumni Association Scholarship, which raised $10,800.32 from 73 gifts, surpassing the project’s $10,000 fundraising goal. These gifts directly support scholarships benefiting extraordinary CANR students who excel in the classroom and serve their communities.
Each year, the CANR Alumni Board awards scholarships through this fund to exceptional students across the college, from first-year Institute of Agricultural Technology students to graduate scholars. In June, ten students received awards totaling $28,000.
“This scholarship is helping me accomplish my goal of graduating college debt-free. By reducing the financial burden of tuition and academic expenses, it allows me to focus more on my studies and professional development opportunities. It also motivates me to continue striving for excellence in and out of the classroom.” - Olivia Porter, ’26, Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics, 2025 CANR Alumni Association Scholarship recipient.

The 4-H community made an impact on Giving Tuesday by supporting county 4-H endowments and other 4-H funds. A total of $5,539.76 was raised for county 4-H endowments and other funds. Including matching gifts, a grand total of $8,039.76 was raised from 41 donors to support 4-H’ers on Giving Tuesday!
Thanks to a generous matching 4-H donor, the top five counties that raised the most funds on Giving Tuesday received bonus funds. Those counties included:
Wayne County
Ingham County
Clinton County
Chippewa County
Calhoun County
Together, gifts to these projects, as well as donations to funds from other CANR departments and units, empower the success of our current students, faculty and staff while building a stronger college for generations of Spartans to come. As we celebrate the season of giving and gratitude, thank you for all you do to support our students, the college and Michigan State University.
