Wednesday will feature a series of tour stops. A printed program with session abstracts will be provided.
An additional ticket may be purchased to attend one of the Wednesday afternoon offsite field trips; transportation is not provided.
The conference is open to anyone interested in nut-producing trees. Limited exhibitor space is available.
The registration fee is $295. Single-day registration and discounts for association members, students and exhibitors are available.
On Sunday, the conference will kick off at Nash Nurseries with tours of the orchard and processing facilities, followed by a networking and social dinner on the farm.
On Monday and Tuesday, the conference will feature presentations from local, national and international experts, along with group discussions on a range of topics. These include breeding, propagation, orchard establishment and management, harvesting and processing, value-added marketing, and the health benefits of chestnut, hazelnut, walnut and other temperate nut and native fruit trees.
Monday night will include an auction fundraiser to benefit the associations. Donations are welcome.
The final day of the conference will feature an all-day bus tour to three nut tree growers and processors in the Lower Michigan region. Tour stops include Chestnut Growers Inc., the largest cooperative and processor of chestnuts in Michigan, and Rogers Reserve, a Michigan State University experiment farm focused on chestnut and other tree crops of interest, including pawpaw.
