EmailIt’s a great time to be part of the turfgrass program! More than 30 students are currently enrolled in the undergraduate/certificate program.
More than 30 students are currently enrolled in the undergraduate/certificate program—which got a big unexpected boost from the pandemic, when people quickly learned that the golf course and MSU’s Turf Grass program is the place to be. Here the group learns interviewing skills for potential golf course superintendent positions they may apply for.
Soon these students will travel to Phoenix AZ to participate in the GCSAA annual conference, to learn from experts, to make connections, and compete in the Turf Grass Quiz Bowl.
PhD candidates Jackie Guevara and Ryan Bearss just returned from the Sports Field Management Association annual conference, where they presented “Hybrid Systems and Hybrid Pitches,” in which grass is combined with reinforcing synthetic fibers to be used in the fields at FIFA 2026.
