Industry thanks Sen. Stabenow for lifetime commitment to agriculture with donations to Michigan 4-H

In recognition of her long-term service to Michigan and lifetime commitment to agriculture, U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow was honored in November at a reception hosted by GreenStone Farm Credit Services.

In recognition of her long-term service to Michigan and lifetime commitment to agriculture, U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow was honored in November at a reception hosted by GreenStone Farm Credit Services. As part of the event, Michigan 4-H and FFA were recognized, and guests were invited to make a tribute gift to Michigan 4-H, FFA or both in Stabenow’s honor. A Michigan 4-H alumna from Clare County and a 2002 inductee of the 4-H Emerald Clover Society, Stabenow has been a major proponent and advocate for 4-H.  

“While growing up in Clare, I learned important lessons about hard work, responsibility and community from my parents and grandparents,” said Stabenow. “4-H was an important part of those lessons and is an important part of who I am today.” 

In total, $5,000 in tribute gifts from 17 generous donors were made to honor Stabenow. Present at the event to receive the donation were Michigan 4-H leaders Julie Chapin and Jodi Schulz; Michigan 4-H Foundation representatives Tom Coon, Abbey Miller and Andrew Walker; Michigan 4-H youth Isabella Kruk (Wayne County) and Lily Winslow (Saginaw County); and Kiera Goward, MSU Collegiate 4-H president. 

“We were honored to be the recipient of so many gifts in celebration of Senator Stabenow,” said Abbey Miller, Michigan 4-H Foundation director. “She has been a champion for agriculture, for Michigan 4-H and for our state, and we join with industry and so many others in thanking Senator Stabenow for all she has done in her historied career.”
