A report by Mariel Borgman, Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) Community Food Systems Educator, discusses the findings of a short anonymous survey that was distributed through the Michigan Farm to Institution Network (MFIN) to institutional food service buyers. The survey inquired about their requirements for food safety, their use of food safety certifications, their knowledge of food safety verification processes, and their confidence in the safety of their instituiton's food sources.

The results of the survey will be used by MFIN to further the knowledge and education of food service professionals about on-farm food safety programs in the institutional setting as farm to institution programs develop and gain more prominence in Michigan.
