Learn to build a rain garden!
Join us June 10, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in Dimondale, MI, for a rain garden workshop for beginners.
Have April showers brought more than May flowers to your yard? Spring is a great time to dream up new and exciting garden projects and it’s one of the best times of year to install a rain garden. These eco-friendly gardens are designed to capture and filter rainwater and help reduce water pollution and prevent runoff from reaching storm drains. Rain gardens are designed to filter and absorb rainwater and can significantly reduce water pollution by allowing the water to filter through the soil naturally instead of running off a yard and into a storm drain. Since storm sewers often flow directly into nearby rivers, they can carry harmful pollutants like fertilizers and pesticides.
Rain gardens are not only practical, but beautiful. Planted with deep-rooted native species, they enhance your landscape while attracting birds, butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. They’re an affordable, low-maintenance way to reduce flooding, support local ecosystems, and make your yard a more vibrant place.
