State and federal budgets provide significant funding for local governments, and uncertainty in state budget timelines can create major challenges for local fiscal planning. To help communities adapt, Michigan State University Extension is hosting “Local Government Budgeting in Uncertain Times,” a free webinar designed for local officials, administrators, and staff involved in budgeting and fiscal planning.

Panel discussion

The program begins with a moderated panel featuring leaders from multiple levels of local government who will share their experiences with this year’s budget process:

  • Kevin Catlin, DPA, Kalamazoo County Administrator
  • Jon Kangas, Marquette Charter Township Manager
  • Dave Manson, Van Buren ISD Superintendent

Interactive forum

Following the panel, participants will join a discussion forum to exchange strategies and learn how peers across Michigan are adjusting planning, managing priorities, and keeping budgets on track despite ongoing uncertainty.
