MSU Extension and Michigan Department of Treasury launch grant readiness training

Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Department of Treasury are adding a new webinar to the Fiscally Ready Communities series with “Getting Grant Ready,” a session designed to help local governments navigate the grant process. This training will equip elected and appointed officials, administrators, and staff with the knowledge and tools needed to identify opportunities, strengthen compliance, and ensure long-term fiscal sustainability through effective grant management.

Session focus

Participants will learn how to:

  • Align grant opportunities with their community’s strategic goals
  • Assess their team’s capacity to manage grants effectively
  • Ask the right questions before applying for funding
  • Collaborate with neighboring communities for greater impact
  • Develop proactive policies and procedures for sustainable grants management

This training is free! The program is designed for local elected and appointed officials, administrators, and staff with entry-level to intermediate budgeting knowledge.

The webinar will take place three times in 2025:

  • September 25: 10–11:30 a.m. ET
  • October 20: 2–3:30 p.m. ET
  • December 4: 10–11:30 a.m. ET
