MSU Extension requests farmer assistance in completing QuickBooks survey

Keeping good records is an essential part of managing a farm business. Financial records are essential for tax preparation and loan applications, as well as being the foundation for financial analysis. QuickBooks is one of the most widely used financial software packages for maintaining and managing farm financial records. It is a powerful tool but was designed for small businesses, so utilizing the software effectively for agriculture can be difficult.
MSU Extension has partnered with the University of Wisconsin and the University of Nebraska to develop educational resources for farmers using or wanting to use QuickBooks effectively and efficiently for farm records. Better understanding what farmers want and need in QuickBooks education will guide the program toward developing the most relevant and useful resources:
- What parts of QuickBooks do you most want help with? It may be helpful to learn best practices in using QuickBooks for accounting records, reconciling your bank accounts, tracking your inputs or production, and/or building and monitoring budgets.
- What type of resources would be most helpful? Potential resources include educational manuals, fact sheets, instructional videos, and/or in-person or virtual programming.
We encourage both current and prospective users of QuickBooks to complete the survey. The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes.
