MSU at the Michigan Association of Planning conference

The 2013 Michigan Association of Planning (MAP) Conference is being held this year from Oct. 2-4, 2013, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The 2013 Michigan Association of Planning (MAP) Conference is being held this year from Oct. 2-4, 2013, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo, Mich. The focus of this year’s event is on “Making Great Communities Happen.”

Michigan State University faculty and students will be in attendance at the Conference that features June Williamson from The City College of New York and the Mayor of Oklahoma City, Mick Cornett. Below is a list of Michigan State University faculty and staff that will present at the MAP Conference:

Wednesday Oct. 2, 2013, from 9:30 a.m.–noon: Introduction to Planning and Zoning, a Michigan Citizen Planner Program Session
Presenter: Richard Wooten, AICP, MSU Extension

Thursday Oct. 3

From 9:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.:

  • Breaking Down Barriers to Placemaking!
    Presenter: Mark Wyckoff, FAICP, Planning & Zoning Center, MSU Land Policy Institute
  • Legal Aspects of Planning and Zoning, Michigan Citizen Planner Program
    Presenter: Brad Neumann, AICP, MSU Extension

From 2:15 p.m.–4:45 p.m.: Plan Implementation – Tools and Development Controls, Michigan Citizen Planner Program
Presenter: Kurt Schindler, AICP, MSU Extension

Friday Oct. 4, from 9:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.: Best Practices for Innovative Planning and Zoning, Michigan Citizen Planner Program
Presenter: Dean Solomon, MSU Extension

MSU Alumni Reception
There will also be a reception at the MAP Conference for MSU alumni--graduates of the Urban & Regional Planning Program--Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, from 5 -7 p.m..
