Patrick Tiedt, Evart, was elected to the Michigan 4-H Foundation board of trustees at its October 2 board meeting. Foundation members confirmed his election to the board at the annual membership meeting later that day.

Michigan 4-H Foundation trustees are volunteers who manage foundation policies and operations, and are community advocates for ongoing and increasing support for 4-H. They are also charged with overseeing the activities of foundation staff members and working on committees to facilitate foundation operations.

Tiedt is community affairs manager for Consumers Energy, where he works with local governments, businesses and nonprofit organizations to strengthen communities and support economic development across northern Michigan. Prior to joining Consumers Energy, Tiedt served as chief of staff for former Michigan State Senator Darwin Booher. He also served as Chief of Staff for State Senator Curt VanderWall, gaining extensive experience in public policy, constituent relations, legislative affairs, and government leadership.

An Osceola County 4-H alumnus, Tiedt’s 4-H roots started with his grandparents, who were longtime 4-H volunteer club leaders. Tiedt continues the legacy of service he started in 4-H by engaging as a dedicated civic leader, serving as the vice chair of the Alliance for Economic Success, chair of the Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, board member of the Big Rapids Regional Chamber of Commerce, president of the Evart Housing Commission, and as a trustee for the Mecosta-Osceola Intermediate School District Board of Education.

The Michigan 4-H Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) philanthropic partner of Michigan State University Extension 4-H Youth Development. The foundation works to secure and manage private support for 4-H programs statewide that help prepare youth for leadership and future success. For more information about the Michigan 4-H Foundation, visit www.mi4hfdtn.org.
