Pesticide applicator review, certification testing and recertification credits offered in West Olive
Michigan State University Extension and MDARD will host a restricted use pesticide review and testing on November 19 in Ottawa County.
Individuals seeking pesticide applicator certification are invited to attend an upcoming Core Manual Review and Certification Testing Session offered by Michigan State University Extension in partnership with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and the MSU Pesticide Safety Education Program. The training and testing session will be held on Nov. 19, 2026, at the MSU Extension Ottawa County Fillmore Complex, 12220 Fillmore St, West Olive, MI 49460.
The program includes a 4-hour review of the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Manual, designed to help participants prepare for the Michigan pesticide applicator certification exam. The review session will be conducted in the morning followed by pesticide applicator certification testing administered by MDARD in the afternoon.
In addition to preparing for the certification exam, current restricted use pesticide (RUP) applicators are welcome to attend the morning Core Manual Review Session to earn four RUP recertification credits. Participants who need Worker Protection Standard (WPS) training may also complete their required annual WPS training as part of the program.
This event provides an opportunity for new and currently certified applicators to meet certification, recertification and worker protection training requirements in a single day.
Participants are encouraged to obtain and study the Core Manual prior to attending the review session. Manuals can be purchased through the MSU Pesticide Safety Education Program website.
Program check-in begins at 8 a.m. The Core Manual review will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with MDARD testing beginning at approximately 1 p.m.
The registration fee for the review class is $25 per participant. Registration includes educational materials, refreshments and any planned meal service.
Please note that MDARD does not accept certification payments at the testing location. Participants will receive postage-paid envelopes to submit certification fees directly to MDARD. Those wishing to pay for the review class on-site should bring a check or the exact cash amount.
Advance registration is strongly encouraged to help organizers plan for meals, refreshments, educational materials and seating accommodations. While walk-in participation may be accepted if space allows, preregistration helps ensure a smooth check-in process and an accurate participant count.
