This half-day event will equip landowners with practical strategies for succession planning, land-linking, agricultural easements and more. The morning kicks off with refreshments and a welcome from Becky Huttenga, Land Transfer Navigator in Ottawa County, followed by expert-led sessions from MSU Extension, Varnum LLP, MiFarmLink and local conservancy leaders. Topics include designing a succession plan, legal considerations for farm transition, connecting with new farmers through land-linking and exploring permanent land protection options. A community resolution specialist will also share how facilitation can ease difficult conversations and support successful planning.
