Heather Proctor, accounting clerk for the Center for Regional Food Systems, will receive the CANR Early Achievement Award.

The Early Achievement Award recognizes a support staff member who is a dedicated team player and has made outstanding contributions in their role and has recently joined CANR.

Proctor is a proud Michigan native with a passion for helping others. Heather joined the Center for Regional Food Systems (CRFS) in the spring of 2020 as accounting clerk II. With her she brings over twenty years of knowledge and experience in business administration, office management and accounting to provide support to the CRFS team. She earned an associate’s degree in business management from Credit Union Accounting and Computer Information Systems (CIS).

According to a nominator, “Heather meets the criteria of this award by coming to work every day with a positive attitude, leading and motivating those around her through her strong work ethic and commitment to providing the best service possible to our staff, the larger MSU community and our external partners. She has an excellent ability to perceive potential pitfalls and see the best solutions, making her the perfect thought partner for creative brainstorming, problem solving and decision making.”

Additional nominators said, “She will often carefully construct step-by-step directions (sometimes with videos!) that enable the end user to independently complete a task. This facilitated approach is not only impressive, it works immensely well with the schedules of many of our end users.”

“I can always count on her to get any task done and on schedule, and what really stands out and inspires me, is her kindness, patience, and professionalism throughout our interactions. No matter how packed her schedule is or how stressful life outside of work can be, Heather never ceases to deliver to our team.”
