Karban’s talk, “Plant communication and induced resistance against herbivores,” will take place at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, in the Gordon Guyer Conference Room, Room 244 Natural Science Building, East Lansing, MI 48824. Gary Simmons was a forest entomologist and biostatistician in the MSU Department of Entomology. Gary always placed students first among his priorities and was the major professor of 13 MS and six PhD candidates. When Gary passed away at the age of 47 in January 1991, the Department established the Gary Simmons Distinguished Lecturer Series as a memorial, with a special fund to cover all expenses for a speaker to be selected by the students in the Department. Every year, GUESS members nominate, invite and host this distinguished speaker.
