Rudi Polloshka honored with 2026 CANR Excellence in Teaching – New Teacher Award

Jeta Rudi Polloshka, Ph.D., of the Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics, will receive the CANR Excellence in Teaching – New Teacher Award on May 6.
The CANR Excellence in Teaching – New Teacher Award recognizes individuals with fewer than five years of teaching experience who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning and have shown success through innovative, high‑quality instruction.
Rudi Polloshka is an assistant professor of food marketing and management at Michigan State University, with an appointment primarily focused on teaching. Since joining MSU, she has taught four distinct courses and reached more than 1,000 undergraduate students. Her work emphasizes active learning, applied problem-solving and innovation in the undergraduate curriculum.
Rudi Polloshka has played a key role in curriculum development and academic leadership within the department. She has developed new courses and has served as chair of the AFRE Undergraduate Policy Committee and chair of the AFRE Undergraduate Academic Programs Review Committee. She is also the academic advisor for MSU’s National Agri‑Marketing Association student team, supporting students’ professional growth and engagement beyond the classroom.
Her commitment to teaching is complemented by a strong record of externally funded work. Rudi Polloshka has secured more than $2 million in funding, primarily from nationally competitive programs, and serves as principal investigator on a multi‑institutional project that engages undergraduate students in research and industry outreach. Her pedagogical research and academic case studies have been published in leading journals in her field.
Prior to joining MSU, Rudi Polloshka held an assistant professor position in the Agribusiness Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She holds a doctorate in applied economics from the University of Minnesota.
