Seed treatment educational sessions scheduled for November 20
This event will cover various aspects of treating seed, including equipment, storage of treated seed, different carriers and treatments and more. Eight category 4, commercial core and private core RUP credits are available.
On Nov. 20, 2024, a full day of seed treatment education will take place at Clinton County Smith Hall, 819 W Park St, St. Johns, MI 48879, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is for anyone who treats seed or is interested in learning more about seed treatment. The sessions will cover various aspects of treating seed, including equipment, storage of treated seed, different carriers and treatments and more.
Eight category 4, commercial core and private core restricted use pesticide (RUP) credits are available.
The cost is $40 per person, which includes lunch. In future years, seed treatment credits will be offered on a more regular basis (both in person and online) in shorter time blocks to help individuals get the needed education without such a long day.

7:30 a.m.: Check-in/Registration
8:00 a.m.: Equipment use, maintenance, and calibration
9:30 a.m.: Application and disposal
10:30 a.m.: Break
10:45 a.m.: Seed coloration and carriers
11:30 a.m.: Pesticides and the environment
12:15 p.m.: Lunch
12:45 p.m.: Labels and comprehension
1:15 p.m.: Biological seed treatments in soybeans
1:45 p.m.: Pests
2:45 p.m.: Break
3:00 p.m.: PPE
3:30 p.m.: Storage
4:00 p.m.: Calculate use rates
5:00 p.m.: Wrap-up and credits
