Jeane Stebleton, of the Department of Community Sustainability, will receive the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) Outstanding Academic Advisor Award on May 8.

The CANR Outstanding Academic Advisor Award honors academic advisors for their commitment and excellence in supporting students in setting and reaching their academic and professional goals.

Jeane Stebleton, an academic advisor in the Department of Community Sustainability, has been with MSU since 1998 and has advised students within the CANR since 2020. As an advisor, she supports over 300 students in the Environmental Studies and Sustainability major, playing a key role in guiding them through their academic journey. She offers students guidance on curriculum requirements, course selection and long-term career goals. She is known for her passion for helping students navigate their academic and career paths and her advocacy for mental health and well-being.

According to one student who works closely with her, “One of Jeane’s standout qualities is her proactive communication. She sends weekly reminders and updates, ensuring that we remain informed and on track. Her attention to detail and commitment to keeping students engaged makes us feel valued and seen.”

Stebleton's commitment to student success extends beyond her direct advising role. Through the Neighborhood Student Success Collaborative, she counsels exploratory and major preference undergraduates, assisting them with major planning, personal development and career guidance. Additionally, she mentors high-risk students in the STAR-Lite program and serves as an Envision Green Advisor, helping transfer students from Lansing Community College to MSU.

A graduate of Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in clothing and textiles and a minor in marketing, Stebleton also holds a master’s degree in student affairs administration from MSU.

When not in the office, Stebleton enjoys spending time with her daughters, running ultra-marathons and balancing her professional dedication and personal passions.
