Professional Associations
MCEA -- Michigan Council of Extension Associations
The council is composed of representatives of the professional associations, with the purpose of strengthening two-way communication with Extension Administration and promoting cooperation among all Extension personnel. Objectives of MCEA include: (1) advance professional status of Extension faculty and staff, (2) encourage professional involvement, (3) bring concerns of campus and field together, (4) provide for an exchange of ideas, methods and techniques, (5) promote coordination of member associations, (6) promote fellowship among members, (7) strengthen opportunities for recognition of outstanding leadership and achievement, and (7) promote Extension Professional Development Funds.
MAEA -- Michigan Association of Extension Agents
The Michigan Association of Extension Agents (MAEA) is the professional association of Michigan State University Extension Staff serving the people of Michigan in Agriculture, Natural Resources and related areas. Educators, program coordinators, program instructors, and specialists working in agriculture, within the Agriculture and Agribusiness Institute or those working in CFEI should consider joining MAEA. MAEA is the state of Michigan’s chapter for the National Association of County Agricultural Agents.
Those interested in joining can contact their regional director or anyone on the executive board with questions about the association or its benefits.
MEAFCS -- Michigan Extension Association of Family and Consumer Science
The professional organization for Michigan State University Extension Family and Consumer Science fosters better communication within the organization, and furthers the professional development of its members.
MEA4-HYS -- Michigan Association of Extension 4-H Youth Staff
The Michigan Association of Extension 4-H Youth Staff promotes, strengthens, enhances and advocates the personal and professional growth of the 4-H youth developer.
The mission of the Michigan Association of Extension 4-H Youth Staff is to be proactive in issues that affect the development and well-being of Michigan 4-H Youth Development Staff, to promote optimal learning in both formal and informal settings and to advance the practice of positive youth development as a recognized and respected field of work.
Our vision is one of leadership and quality. MAE4-HYS is a member of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents. It supports the professional development of those who work in 4-H by supplying quality training opportunities and membership service.
CNRDA -- Community and Natural Resources Development Association
The Mission of the Michigan State University Extension Community and Natural Resources Development Association is to encourage excellence in educational programs, processes, research, and technical assistance through the exchange of ideas and methods, collaboration, and professional development of members to benefit communities.
(ESP) Epsilon Sigma Phi- Alpha Phi Chapter
ESP -- Epsilon Sigma Phi - Extension's professional honorary association dedicated to fostering standards of excellence in the Extension System and developing the Extension profession and professional. Epsilon Sigma Phi leads the Extension System in promoting and supporting professionalism in Extension.
