Great Lakes sea lamprey ecology and management

Background:

Dr. Heather Dawson is currently an Associate Professor of Biology at University of Michigan-Flint. Prior to that she worked for five years as a fishery biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Her research focuses on Great Lakes sea lamprey ecology and management, often using quantitative models to aid in strategic decision making regarding the management of this invasive species. She also been involved in research projects concerned with the management of Blanding’s turtles and the distribution of fishes in river systems. She has a long-running collaboration with the MSU Quantitative Fisheries Center focusing on improving the management of Great Lakes sea lamprey. Her professional interests are in fisheries and wildlife management and population dynamics.
