Jarred Saralecos is an Instructor in the Department of Forestry at Michigan State University, where he teaches field courses in forestry management, wildland fire, renewable wood products, and Michigan forests. His work focuses heavily on forest outreach and community education, connecting students, K–12 educators, land managers, industry professionals, and the public to promote forest literacy and healthy forest management. His current research supports logger workforce development and connecting K-12 students with forestry through VR tours.

Jarred holds an MS in Forest Resources and a BS in Forest Operations from the University of Idaho. He has more than a decade of experience in forestry education, research, and community engagement. His outreach efforts include developing field tours, teacher workshops, youth forestry programs, professional training, and workforce development initiatives across Michigan and the Pacific Northwest. He has also secured competitive grants and partnerships supporting forestry education, career pathways, and innovative learning experiences. Having worked across the country he is well connected with forestry professionals and mentors in multiple regions which have directly supported recent graduates relocating for jobs.
