Bio

Kate has been an undergraduate research assistant in the lab for 2 years. She is interested in human health risk and Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment (QMRA). She is finishing her BS in Biosystems Engineering with a concentration in Biomedical Engineering. Following her graduation in May 2024 she will continue her education at MSU with the intent to pursue both an MS and PhD in Biosystems Engineering. Kate is an active member in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) when she is a member of the BAE academics committee as an undergraduate representative and the president of Biosystems Engineering Club the undergraduate professional club at Michigan State University. She has also worked as an undergraduate learning assistant in the department for the past 2 years for two different courses.

Research

Kate’s work is focused on maintaining, editing, and adding content to the QMRA Wiki. The QMRA Wiki is a community portal that shares current quantitative information and knowledge about QMRA. The Wiki is an ever-evolving repository, and it’s intended to be used as an educational resource and database for the microbial risk assessment community.
