PFAS Remediation: Application of current available technologies in Michigan
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large group of environmentally persistent, man-made chemicals widely used in industry and households including mist suppressants, firefighting activities, stain repellents, and non-stick cookware. Due to their widespread use, PFAS is found at low or high levels globally. Research to date demonstrates limited PFAS removal by conventional drinking water and wastewater treatment, and few options exist to address PFAS on soil and sediments. In this webinar, Fernanda Wilson provided an overview of several key technologies currently used by practitioners to remediate PFAS in different scenarios. Steve MacDonald provided more details on a few case studies where technologies were applied to address PFAS at sites located in Michigan by his team, as well as some R&D being developed in partnership with Fishbeck.
