This questionnaire is part of the RSM2SNF project and is designed to collect comprehensive data on transporters of tomatoes and green leafy vegetables (GLVs) in Nigeria. The survey includes detailed modules to understand the structure, operations, and challenges faced by transporters in the value chain.

  • Sections and Key Focus Areas:

    • Enterprise Characteristics: Captures details about transport businesses, including ownership, education, years of operation, and infrastructure.
    • Vehicle Use and Drivers: Examines vehicle types, capacities, maintenance, and driver profiles, including experience, pay structure, and additional roles.
    • Logistics and Costs: Covers trip characteristics such as routes, road quality, time spent, and costs related to fuel, road taxes, and maintenance.
    • Payment and Transactions: Investigates client relationships, payment methods (cash or in-kind), and product types transported.
    • Product Losses: Quantifies losses of tomatoes and GLVs during transport, categorizing them as completely lost, downgraded, or consumed.
    • Labor Practices: Explores gender roles, household labor contributions, and hired labor (both short-term and long-term), including payment details.
  • Purpose and Application:
    The questionnaire aims to inform interventions targeting transport efficiency, waste reduction, and inclusive employment practices, enhancing overall performance and sustainability of the tomato and GLV value chains in Nigeria.
