  • Site characteristics: Well-drained, loose-textured soils
  • Zone: 5a - 9a
  • Native range: Eastern United States
  • Salt: Sensitive
  • pH: 5.0 – 8.2
  • Other: Does not tolerate poor drainage
  • Shape: Broad pyramidal
  • Other: Needs adequate space; yellow fall color
  • Additional: Northern seed source recommended, somewhat weak-wooded, transplant in spring
  • Pests: Prone to some aphid damage; prone to wind and ice damage
