I view my career as kind of a gift.

I have spent my career working in every part of fisheries management for the state of Michigan that you can imagine. In those roles,

I also spent quite a bit of time working with, in fact, my entire career working with or associated with Michigan State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife in particular.

And I've always enjoyed working in legacy projects. So where you leave a mark for a long period of time.

I'm quite proud of my work that I did on hydropower relicensing in the late 80s and 90s.

I'm proud of the work that I did with the hatchery system and in remodeling the system.

So I switched careers, literally switched career paths over and manage our Hatchery system is extremely proud of the work I did there.

I think I made some small contributions in moving them to be more articulate in fish health and genetics, in practices within the hatchery system.

Much of that it could be thanked to my colleagues at Michigan State that I've worked with on a daily basis that helped tutor me.

There are two parts of the university that make it most unique. One is the diversity. You know, it's a darn diverse place.

It's a really big place. It's very diverse, and it's got a huge number of disciplines.

And what I would say to a student is that it is rare that you could be exposed to a number of different disciplines.

For example, in Fish and Wildlife, and I suspect that's true in other parts of the university and college, that you can be exposed to a broad range of things that you probably didn't know you were good at.
