Applying Fertilizer
Traditionally, fertilizers are applied to Christmas trees by hand, placing fertilizer around each tree. This can be time consuming and labor intensive. Growers may broadcast-apply or and band fertilizer using tractors, four wheelers, and other equipment as long as the equipment fits between the trees. No matter how you apply fertilizer, be careful to keep fertilizers off foliage and away from the trunk. Misapplied fertilizer can cause damage to the needles or even kill small trees. Apply fertilizer when the foliage is dry, temperatures are cool and, if possible, prior to rain.
