Texas 2020

The 2020 Michigan State University collegiate dairy cattle judging team members included (pictured from left to right): Kristen Burkhardt, of Fowlerville; Beka McDonald, of Coopersville; Miriah Dershem, of St. Johns; and Lynn Olthof, of Ferrysburg. The team was coached by Joe Domecq and Sarah Black. 

Results 

  • Southwestern Exposition Livestock Show and Rodeo in Fort Worth, Texas 
    • Team: 2nd in Holsteins, 3rd Overall, 4th in Oral Reasons, 5th in Brown Swiss, and 9th in Jerseys. 
    • Individuals: Lynn Olthof placed 5th Overall, 7th in Holsteins, 10th in Reasons, and 10th in Brown Swiss. Kristen Burkhardt placed 8th in Reasons. 

The Fall 2020 National Collegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contests were cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

  • All American Dairy Invitational in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 
    • Individuals: Kristen Burkhardt placed 8th Overall, 7th in Ayrshires, and 7th in Oral Reasons. Miriah Dershem placed 22nd Overall, 9th in Brown Swiss, and 10th in Holsteins. 

  •  World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin 
    • Individuals: Kristen Burkhardt placed 22nd Overall and 6th in Jerseys. Miriah Dershem placed 18th Overall and 5th on Red and Whites.

  • North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky
    • Individuals: Kelsey Pasch placed 1st in Jerseys and 15th in Holsteins. Kristen Burkhardt placed 12th in Guernseys.

    • White Team: Mikayla Bowen, Jessie Nash, Kelsey Pasch, and Katie Wilson- 3rd Overall and 3rd in Reasons. 
    • Green Team: Rachael Bosse, Drew Neyer, Adalee Thelen- 3rd in Placings 
    • Individuals: Jessie Nash placed 6th Overall and 5th in Placings. Drew Neyer placed 3rd Overall and 3rd in Reasons. Kelsey Pasch placed 4th in Reasons and Adalee Thelen placed 8th Overall.

    • Team: 3rd in Jerseys, 4th in Ayrshires, 5th Overall, 5th in Brown Swiss, 6th in Oral Reasons, 6th in Guernseys, and 7th in Holsteins.
    • Individuals: Jessie Nash placed 1st Overall, 1st in Brown Swiss, 4th in Ayrshires, 5th in Guernseys, 8th in Oral Reasons, and 8th in Jerseys.

    • Team: 1st in Ayrshires, 3rd in Red and Whites, 5th in Brown Swiss, 8th in Jerseys, 7th in Milking Shorthorns, 7th in Reasons, and 7th Overall. 
    • Individuals: Jessie Nash placed 1st Overall, 1st in Placings, 2nd in Ayrshires, 8th in Brown Swiss, and 9th in Guernseys. Katie Wilson placed 1st in Ayrshires while Kelsey Pasch placed 10th in Red and Whites. 

  • North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky
    • Team: 4th in Jerseys, 5th in Reasons, 6th in Brown Swiss, 6th in Holsteins, 7th Overall, 7th in Guernseys, and 9th in Ayrshires.
    • Individuals: Jessie Nash placed 1st in Guernseys, 1st in Jerseys, 4th in Reasons, 4th in Holsteins, 5th Overall, and 10th in Brown Swiss. 

 

 

 Jessie WDE 2022

Jessie Nash received the Gene Meyer Award for placing 1st Overall individually at World Dairy Expo. She is the first Michigan State student to earn this honor since 1962.

    • Team: 1st overall in the management contest and 3rd overall in the judging contest. 
    • Individuals: Adalee Thelen placed 1st Overall in the management contest. Drew Neyer placed 2nd overall in the management contest and 9th in the judging contest.

    • Team: 1st in Ayrshire, 1st in Guernsey, 1st in Holstein, 2nd Overall, 3rd in Brown Swiss, 3rd in Jersey, and 4th in Oral Reasons.

Rachael Bosse placed 6th in Holstein.

    • Individuals:  Rachael Bosse placed 1st in Guernsey, 7th in Reasons, and 22nd Overall (All-American). Adalee Thelen placed 6th in Jersey, 9th in Reasons, and 25th Overall (All-American). Brianna Hill placed 7th in Ayrshire and 21st Overall (All-American) while Drew Neyer placed 8th in Brown Swiss.
