Culturally Inclusive College (CIC) Sharing System

At this time, the CIC Sharing System is closed for review and revision to better serve and meet the needs of the CANR community. We hope to move through this process swiftly but want to be sure we do it right and in a way that is effective for the user. We will be sure to announce when revisions are complete and the form reopens. Thank you for your patience.

MSU's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) is committed to a culturally inclusive, safe and supportive environment that is free from any and all forms of discrimination, bias, stereotyping, harassment and assault. (See more in the CANR DEI Statement.)

The Culturally Inclusive College (CIC) Sharing System was developed by the CANR DEI Committee to allow CANR to track and respond to behaviors and situations that work in favor or against our goals of a safe and supportive environment.

Expected Behaviors

Our CANR community includes faculty, staff, students, researchers, program participants and guests who work, learn, visit, and interact with one another at CANR, research facilities, or any of our County Extension Offices or partner locations.

This close-knit atmosphere makes CANR a unique and special place to work, learn and interact, but also comes with the responsibility to hold ourselves and each other to the following standards.

  • Members of CANR will treat all persons with respect and consideration, seek and value a diversity of opinions so as to develop a relationship of mutual respect, and recognize and consider how their actions impact and reflect upon the entire CANR community.
  • Members of CANR will be conscious of the safety and well-being of every person and, when a situation threatens a person’s health and/or safety, respond by reporting to officials or others who are able to intervene.
  • Members of CANR will display honesty, integrity, and a dedication to fulfilling one’s commitments.
  • Members of CANR will engage in respectful language, tone and demeanor when interacting with other members of the CANR community.

CIC Sharing System Reporting

At this time, the CIC Sharing System is closed for review and revision to better serve and meet the needs of the CANR community. We hope to move through this process swiftly but want to be sure we do it right and in a way that is effective for the user. We will be sure to announce when revisions are complete and the form reopens. Thank you for your patience.

CANR community members can make an informational submission or take action report using the CANR CIC Sharing System.

Informational Submissions

Information submissions are used to track trends and help determine patterns across CANR and can be used by community members who do not want to be consulted in the response. The intent is to make the college aware of incidents or situations, and action will only be taken on individual reports on determination by the CIC of an imminent or ongoing threat or policy violation. Informational submissions may be made anonymously.

Informational submissions can also be positive in nature. For example, you could share about a community member who is contributing positively to a culturally inclusive and safe environment.

Take Action Reports

Take action reports are also used to track trends and help determine patterns across our college, and they are evaluated by the CIC committee for further review and/or action. They require the reporter to provide contact information, and the reporter has an expectation that they will be consulted and/or informed about future action taken by the college.

If the committee determines that the incident reported falls under the Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Policy or the Anti-Discrimination Policy at MSU, information from the report will be forwarded to the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE).

In the case of a take action report that meets these criteria, the reporter will be informed of OIE reporting.
