Nancy E. Moran, PhD is an associate professor at the USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Moran holds a Bachelor’s in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a doctorate in Nutritional Sciences, all earned at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign. She completed postdoctoral training in the lab of Steven Clinton at The Ohio State University where she received a K99/R00 Pathway to Independence award from the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. Dr. Moran’s research focuses on the role of carotenoids in supporting health across the lifespan as well as the role of carotenoids as biomarkers of dietary intake. She has published 45 research articles, and her research is funded by the USDA and NIH. She is incoming chair of the Gordon Research Conference on Carotenoids and past chair of the American Society for Nutrition’s Carotenoid and Vitamin A Research Interest Group. She serves as Director of the Children’s Nutrition Research Center’s Postdoctoral Training Program. Among her professional awards, she has received the Mary Swartz Rose Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Nutrition and Top Reviewer for Journal of Nutrition in 2023.
